CANDLEMASS Mainman LEIF EDLING Says THE DOOMSDAY KINGDOM Was Formed During Dark Period
February 28, 2016CANDLEMASS bassist and songwriter Leif Edling has launched a new solo project called THE DOOMSDAY KINGDOM. He says in the latest video message about the project: "THE DOOMSDAY KINGDOM was created two years ago. I was in pretty bad shape. I couldn't go out, I couldn't work, I wasn't allowed to read, I couldn't watch telly and I wasn't allowed to work in front of the computer, so all I had was the music. And I created THE DOOMSDAY KINGDOM, metal from the catacombs."
Edling previously said about how THE DOOMSDAY KINGDOM came about: "As you perhaps know, I won't be playing live with CANDLEMASS this year. I'm still burnt out. But hopefully I can do it next year. And in the meantime, I would like to introduce some solo stuff I've been working on for some time now, and I call it THE DOOMSDAY KINGDOM. And it's a low-key thing I'm doing without any label involved. And it's metal the way it's supposed to be, and it's for all of you that love this kind of music as much as I do."

CANDLEMASS will release a special 30th-anniversary EP titled "Death Thy Lover" on June 3 via Napalm. The four-track effort — which features Mats Levén on vocals — was recorded during September/October and will be made available as a four-page digipack, one-LP gatefold edition and one-LP gatefold webstore edition and old-school "skull-and-cross" slipmat. The cover artwork for the EP was created by Erik Rovanperä.
Edling's AVATARIUM project released its second album, "The Girl With The Raven Mask", in October 2015 via Nuclear Blast. The CD was released in North America as part of a joint licensing venture between Nuclear Blast and Metalville.
